Hand Painted Oriental Table Lamps

When you're looking to add a little exotic glamour to your room, these beautiful hand painted oriental table lamps

Hand made using papier mache and then decorated by hand in Kashmir using traditional colours and decoration, these lamps look incredible in any setting.

We have two basic designs, one monochrome and one in warm red and gold, both supplied with parchment shades.

To make the lamps more stable and secure (they are after all made from papier mache!), a quantity of sand is poured into the bases before they're sealed.

The detail of decoration on these table lamps has to be seen to be believed - they really are wonderful.

We have the lamps available in just one size at the moment but if there's enough demand, we can have some bigger ones made - let us know via the website contact form, email or just give us a call.

The red and gold lamps in particular make the most fantastic Christmas presents as not only do they look "Christmassy", they will also give years of pleasure to the recipient.

Caring For Your Papier Mache Table Lamp

Papier mache, once dry, is a very durable material (basically, reconstituted wood!) but it's important that it doesn't get wet.

These lamps have been glazed and sealed over the decoration and are therefore pretty resilient to moisture - we wouldn't recommend putting them in the bath though!

The monochrome lamps have a glossy glaze which really shows off the detailed decoration whereas the red and gold lamps have an antiquing applied over the glaze which dulls them down slightly - the images above should give you a feel for this.

A simple wipe with a duster is all you'll need to do to keep the lamps looking great but we do recommend that you don't stand the lamps in a windowsill in direct sunlight for long periods as it's possible the colours may fade.

Shapes and Sizes

Our hand painted table lamps are not made by machine and therefore vary slightly in size and shape but are certainly more consistent than our Himalayan honey pot lamps

As with the wooden lamps, if you order a pair of painted lamps, we'll try to match the two lamps.

The monochrome and red lamps are pretty much the same size:

Lamp Shades

All of our lamps are supplied with appropriately sized, parchment lamp shades, finished with gold tape.

Each lamp shade seam is stitched to prevent splitting and all of the shades are safe for bulbs up to 100W - they should last for many years.

You can of course source alternative shades from elsewhere, but these are the ones we do and we think they match the lamps beautifully!
